Terms of Use
About the service
NearSports is a website and a mobile app that help you find sports pitches nearby, create games and gather people for them, book pitches at sports complexes and sign up for sports classes.
By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
Your account
Most actions require an account. You must be at least 14 to use the service.
You can sign in with an email and password, with Google, or — in the iPhone app — with Apple. When you sign in with Google or Apple, their own terms apply as well. Such an account has no password at first; you can set one in your profile.
Use a real email address: confirmation and account recovery codes are sent there. You are responsible for keeping access to your account safe and for everything that happens under it. One account, one person.
You can delete your account at any time — what happens to your data then is described in the privacy policy.
Rules of conduct
The following is not allowed in the service: insults, threats, harassment and incitement of hatred; obscene content; spam and advertising by users; impersonating another person; publishing other people’s personal data; rating dishonestly or inflating ratings; breaking the law.
We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Reports are reviewed, and for violations we may remove content or close an account without warning.
The advertising block in the service is run by NearSports; the ban on advertising applies to messages, profiles and other user content.
Your content
Everything you publish — pitches, games, messages, comments, photos — remains yours.
By publishing it you give us the right to show it to other users within the service and, where the content is public — pitches, comments and their photos — to visitors who are not signed in and to search engines, so that the service can work. You are responsible for what you publish and confirm that you have the right to do so.
Moderation
Any user can report content or block another person — on the website and in the mobile app. We review reports and may remove content, restrict or close an account.
We do not pre-screen all content and cannot guarantee that everything you see follows these rules. If you spot a violation, report it — that is the fastest route.
Pitches and games
Ordinary pitches are added by users themselves. Sports complexes are added by their owners and appear on the map after an administrator reviews them. Either way, we do not guarantee that a pitch is free, in working order or safe, that the opening hours and prices are correct, or that a game will actually take place.
Arrangements about a game are between its participants. Judge your own health and the condition of the pitch yourself: we are not liable for injuries or harm during a game.
Bookings
Paid pitches can be booked. There are no online payments in the service: the price on a booking is a guide, and you pay the pitch owner on site. A booking is an arrangement between you and the owner; NearSports is not a party to it and does not guarantee that the pitch will be ready or that the price will not change.
You can cancel your own booking in the service. A complex owner can also cancel a booking at their own venue — for example, when closing the pitch for certain hours; you will then receive a notification.
Complex owners and coaches
A complex owner is responsible for what they publish about their venue: the address, opening hours, prices, classes and their schedules. A coach is responsible for their own profile and schedule. A coach is attached to a class only after accepting an invitation.
Coach profiles and the contact phones of classes and coaches are visible to every visitor of the service. We may decline to publish a venue or remove it from the map.
Classes
Signing up for a class tells the coach that you want to attend; it does not guarantee a place. The account holder signs up personally; if a child is going to attend, an adult signs up in their own name.
Class conditions, payment and safety are set by the class organiser, not by NearSports.
Ratings
You can rate a player only for a sport you have played together. A rating is a number from 1 to 5 with no text and reflects other players’ subjective opinion, not ours. Pitch condition is rated the same way, with a number and no text, and only by people who have played there.
Rate honestly. Inflating ratings or colluding to push someone’s rating up or down is a breach of the rules of conduct.
Availability
The service is provided as is. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it.
We do not promise uninterrupted operation and do not guarantee that data will be preserved — keep your own copies of anything important to you.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profit or loss of data arising from your use of the service.
This does not limit the rights the law gives you as a consumer, which cannot be waived.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date of the last update is at the top. If you keep using the service after a change, you are considered to have accepted it.
